For more than a decade, the block sandbox Minecraft has been one of the most popular games, and we regularly add new content. It’s getting harder and harder to keep track. If you want to get in or out of Minecraft in 2022, our separate guide for newcomers will help you.
However, our Minecraft expert tells you the essential tips for the new update 1.19, The Wild, in this guide. Here you can find information about the new blocks, the new biome, frog lights, and the allays.
The new trees and blocks can do that.
With version 1.19, new trees are moving into the block world: the mangroves. Mangroves are found in the mangrove swamp. The bark is dark brown, and the wood is reddish. They generate on land and in water.
Her seedlings grow from the leaves and have five stages of development. You can apply Bone Meal to the mangrove leaves by right-clicking. The same applies to the further growth stages. Incidentally, you can plant the seedlings both above and below water.
In the mangrove swamp, you will find Mud as well as mangroves. Other blocks can be made from Mud:
Muddy Mangrove Roots made from Mangrove Roots + Mud
Solid Mud of Wheat + Mud
Mud bricks made from solid Mud
If Mud is on a stalactite, clay can be produced with a pointed stalactite underneath.
You can also win Mud by right-clicking on a block of the earth with a (throwable) water bottle.

Other properties of the mud block:
Mobs sink in
Funnels underneath can pick up items through the mud block
If a block falls on Mud, the falling block drops
This is how you succeed in breeding frogs
Some animals live in Minecraft. Since update 1.19, you can also meet frogs in the mangrove swamp. Frogs can jump up to three blocks. And they can take three different colors: green, brown and white. The color depends on the biome the frogs grew up in. White frogs spawn in warm, brown frogs in moderate biomes and green frogs in cold ones.
You can breed frogs with slime balls. Before you start the actual breeding, you should place water nearby. After mating, a frog runs to the (just created) water hole. If you haven’t made a water hole, the frog will run to the nearest water hole and start laying the spawn in the water.
Now you have to wait for tadpoles to spawn. You can pick them up with a bucket and transport them to another biome to get the other colors. Warning: Axolotls eat tadpoles!
This is how you get frog lights.
All frogs can eat tiny slimes and magma cubes. When slimes are eaten, slime balls appear. When a frog swallows a magma cube, a frog light occurs.
But first, you have to go to the Nether. Ideally, you’ve previously found Baston ruins with a magma cube spawner.
First, the frogs have to go into the Nether. You build a four-block high cage with a block distance around a nether portal to lay rails around the doorway. And leads the rails away from the portal at one point. Now you place a cart on the track and catch a frog with a line. Now the frog can be pulled into the cart. You transport the frog onto the rail circle with a drive lorry around the portal. The coach should drive in circles around the doorway. Go into the cage and close the entrance. Then you build the lore. The frog can then move around in the cell.
Now the tricky part begins:
The frog has to stay in the portal for a specific time. You can push him into the portal with the character.
Once the frog has arrived in the Nether, you must follow him. With your leash, you catch him again in the underworld and pull him back into a cart, so he can’t escape.
As soon as a small magma cube gets within range of the frog, the frog eats the magma cube – you have your first frog light.
For travel: A boat with a chest
Items can be transported overland from A to B with the crate lorry. On the water, Minecraft now offers players a boat with a chest. If you are in such a boat and open the inventory, you also can access the chest contents.
A new companion – the Allay
You can find the Allay in the dungeons of the manor houses and the cages of the scavenger outposts – but not in all of them.
Once you’ve freed an Allay, you can right-click to give them an item. The little ghost starts to follow you. If the distance is less than 64 blocks, the Allay will always find its way back to you. As long as the allay holds a partnership, it collects identical blocks. For example, if you farm wood and have given the ghost the appropriate block, the Allay will bring you the fallen blocks.
If another block is to be collected by the allay, you must click your helper again with an empty hand. You get the block back. It is best to do this in a closed room so that the allay cannot fly away.
Other interesting properties:
Owners cannot harm their Allay
Allay can still take damage from a fire or TNT
If a nearby notepad is activated, the allay will bring the items to the tablet instead of the player
Deep Dark – the blocks of the new biome
You can also encounter a new biome beneath the earth’s surface – the Deep Dark or the Deep Dark. The deep Dark is below the height y = 0. Regular creature spawning does not occur in Deep Dark. However, other creatures can enter the biome through adjacent caves.
In the depths of the dark biome, you can also discover ancient cities. For example, you can find loot chests here.
In addition to enchantments, these can also find echo shards, record fragments, or a salvage compass. You can use the record fragments to create a record. The salvage compass always leads you to your last place of death.
In the deep darkness, you come across the following blocks:
sculk block
sculk veins
Sculp catalyst
sculk sensor
Sculp Screamer
Reinforced Deep Slate (not craftable and not mineable, only in the ancient city)
For all blocks with Sculk in their name:
They can be mined with any tool, but hoes are the quickest.
Mining without caution gives the player experience.
Exception: sculk veins
Sculp Veins:
This block is for decoration only
Sculp Catalyst:
If a mob dies near the Sculk Catalyst, it spawns new Sculk Blocks and Veins.
The number of blocks converted depends on the amount of experience the mob leaves behind.
If a mob dies near a Sculk Catalyst, they will not drop experience.
A Sculk Screamer has a 1 percent chance of spawning.
There is a 9 percent chance of creating a sculk sensor.
Sculp Sensor:
Activated by sound
Sneaking prevents activation
The sensor radius is nine blocks
He can be shielded with wool
The sculk sensor emits a Redstone signal once activated
The Redstone signal strength depends on the sound intensity
If a Sculk Screamer is in range, it will also activate
Sculk Shrieker:
With each activation by the player, the player warning level increases
The warning level drops by one every ten minutes without further activation
The alert level also increases when another screech is activated
When the warning level reaches three, a warden will appear
No warden will appear if there is another warden within 48 blocks and the light level is above 11.
A new opponent – the Warden
The Warden is a powerful opponent. Even with Netherite armor, he only needs a few hits to defeat the character. This mob is blind and uses its nose to locate other creatures. In addition to the sense of smell, it also uses sound localization.
If the guard cannot reach his target, he shoots at his victim with sound waves. The sound waves penetrate other blocks (including wool). In contrast to all other opponents, the player should flee from the guard and not fight him. If the player manages to defeat the Warden, they leave behind the minimal experience and a Sculk Catalyst.
